Founded in 1959 by pioneering researchers from Wake Forest Medical School, Carolina Medical Electronics began with a singular mission: to advance medical science through precision instrumentation. Our first product—a groundbreaking blood flow meter—set the standard for accuracy and reliability in clinical diagnostics. Over the decades, our commitment to innovation has remained steadfast. In the 1980s, our instruments even flew aboard NASA’s Space Shuttle, contributing to space-based medical research and cementing our reputation for excellence.
Carolina Medical Electronics has always been at the forefront of medical technology. In 2008, recognizing the growing need for advanced data acquisition tools in clinical research, we expanded our focus to connected medical instruments and cloud-based applications. Since then, our technologies have supported over 15 clinical studies, involving more than 3,500 participants across five countries. Our engineering team holds 11 patents and has played a key role in shaping the foundational concepts of modern Internet of Things (IoT) technology. Today, our blood flow meters continue to lead the industry in both accuracy and range.
